SOLAR FLARE FARM

Welcome to our official farm page! Where it all began…

Oh, the childhood memories. Years ago, my dad and I decided to get into goats together, and they quickly became my all time favorite animals. I showed them, walked them around the block (no leads needed!), and spent countless days out in the pasture just being with them. My beloved pygmies stayed with us for many years, until they eventually crossed the rainbow bridge.

Fast forward to 2022, when my fiancé and I bought a small piece of property of our own. He had always wanted goats, and I already had the experience. My original plan was to get a couple of milk goats, specifically Nigerian Dwarfs, since they’re similar in size to pygmies but known for better milk production. I never imagined I’d end up owning a buck, but everything changed when I met Night Heron Farm Solar Flare, “Flare.” I instantly fell in love, and that moment marked the beginning of the next chapter in my goat journey and even inspired the name of our farm.

Today, we run a small scale, ADGA registered herd. We milk daily, enjoy their rich, creamy milk, and appreciate their endlessly entertaining personalities. Our focus is quality over quantity, with an emphasis on temperament, improving the breed to the best of our knowledge, and continuously learning through our fellow goat friends.

One of our long-term goals is to prove our stock over time. We’ve developed a colorful herd and we’re also working with polled (naturally hornless) genetics.
Our herd is tested annually for CAE, CL, and Johne’s, and we’ve maintained negative results since we began testing in 2023.
We also participate in Linear Appraisal and plan to continue as it becomes available in our area. In spring 2026, we’re excited to begin milk testing through DHI.

As my dad would always say, “What have I started?” Because he’s the reason behind the love I have for goats today.
